After graduating from Stanford, she founded and then operated a successful design and manufacturing business for several years. During that time, she learned what it takes to create and run a successful company. She decided to become a lawyer after feeling the frustration of seeing her designs and other tangible ideas stolen by others.

While attending The UCLA School of Law, she began to understand just how many people and businesses needed good help in protecting the manifestations of their bright ideas.

After graduating from law school, she worked as an attorney at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm, then worked in-house as Vice President of a small music publishing company, and as Business Affairs Counsel at a prominent fashion company.

Aspiring to give her clients the personal and immediate attention that she herself had wanted when she ran her design and manufacturing business, she decided to open her own law practice in 2006. To this day, she adheres to the ideals that brought her to the practice of law in the first place: developing, protecting, and strengthening the work of entrepreneurial businesses and creative people.

Melissa has a rich life outside of the office. She has been a poet since the age of five, and she also paints on canvas. She enjoys playing beach volleyball, practicing yoga, playing tennis and writing and performing her own poetry. She also loves to scuba dive, and the photos on this site are from trips she has taken around the world.
